    Picking the right pickup for your guitar can feel daunting, but we are here to help you! Finding the right pickup for your instrument will help give you the sound you are looking for.

    What kind of pickups are there?

    There are two types of guitar pickups: single-coil and double-coil, also known as humbuckers. Single coil pickups will give you a brighter tone. Tele, Strat, and P90 are all single coil pickups that will give you different tones for your guitar. Humbucker will be loud, deep, and warm. Both types of pickups come in a range of voicing.

    Do any pickups fit any guitar?

    Guitar pickups are not universal. They come in many shapes and sizes and are often created to fit one type of guitar. You can do some modifications by re-routing your guitar pickup cavity if you are wanting a specific pickup. Single-coil pickups are often found on Fender Stratocasters and other similar guitars. Humbuckers are often found on Gibson Les Paul guitars (and other similar sized guitars). Gibson humbuckers are twice as wide as Strat pickups but there are stacked models that can be put in single coil routings.
