What kinds of chorus pedals are there?

There are two types of chorus pedals - analog and digital.

Analog Chorus Pedals

Analog chorus pedals act directly upon the signal and have a phaser/flanger element to the tone. The signal is direct and pure.

Digital Chorus Pedals

Digital chorus pedals use short delay circuits in order to generate their effect. These pedals create a chorus but do not have a phase sound. These pedals are extremely precise and very versatile.

When should I use a chorus pedal?

Use a chorus pedal when you want to create a thicker sound from a single signal.

How does a chorus pedal work?

Chorus pedals make a copy of your signal, delays it a tiny bit, and then modulates the pitch of the copy. This modulated delay is played at the same time as the original signal which doubles the sound.

What is the difference between chorus and delay?

In simple terms, chorus is a modulation effect and delay is a time based effect. Both will create ambient sounds on your electric guitar.
